Microsoft has pulled
together the free evaluation editions of its .NET Enterprise Server line on one
Web page.
The evaluation page
features links to each of the products, where users can find information on how
to obtain the evaluation editions, get product descriptions and check system
requirements.
The .NET Enterprise
Server evaluation editions are available either via a CD, download, or both.
Downloadable files
include BizTalk Server 2000, Commerce Server 2000, Host Integration Server
2000, and Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000.
Available on CD,
with a shipping and handling charge, are Application Server 2000, SQL Server
2000, and a 120-day evaluation version of Windows 2000 Advanced Server.
Exchange 2000 Server
can be downloaded or ordered via CD.
Microsoft officially
retired the BackOffice name as the primary brand name for its server products
with the .NET Enterprise Server launch in late September. The BackOffice Suite
will still be offered as a packaged product for small- to medium-sized
businesses.
Several of the evaluation
editions available on the site are shipping, including SQL Server 2000 and
Exchange 2000 Server. Some of the servers on the list are still in beta or
release candidate form. – Jim Martin
