Datacore Software Corp. has added new functionality to its
SANsymphony storage virtualization product to address the needs of
administrators. The new features were added at the request of customers to
simplify management.
Datacore says that it plans to extend SANsymphony from a
storage virtualization product to a single point of management for managing
SANs.
One new feature in SANsymphony is simplified switch
adminstration. Users can configure zoning through the SANsymphony GUI and the
software can detect ports automatically.
“Boot-and-go” offers administrators faster recovery after
disasters by managing points-of-failure on the SAN.
SANsymphony can now also dynamically reassign hardware on
the SAN for better performance. If an HBA has problems, the software can switch
to another card.
Finally, SANsymphony has added features for managing
caches, improving the time it takes for storage to move from the SAN to the
server.
