Two household names are joining forces, as
EMC Corp. and
Computer
Associates International Inc. recently announced an alliance aimed at
developing next-generation SAN management and security solutions.
Through the agreement, the two companies will integrate
their respective storage software products. In order to enhance the value of
their storage products, the two companies are also extending integration across
CA’s e-business solutions, enabling the addition of features such as enterprise
management and predictive analysis technologies.
As part of the alliance, CA has joined the EMC
E-Infostrucutre Developers Program (EIDP). Through a range of APIs, this
program enables members to integrate their independent software solutions with
EMC Symmetrix Enterprise Storage systems.
On of the first set of integrated solutions to stem from the
relationship is CA-Vantage, which now supports EMC Symmetrix. A storage
resource management solution, CA-Vantage provides continuous availability of
information through monitoring and automation functions.
EMC will continue to support SANITI, a CA initiative aimed
at delivering open SAN management platforms based on open standards. The two
companies will also work together to develop open SAN standards and software
APIs for storage and SAN management. – Jim
