In-Stat Group says that the rolling blackouts in California may present
marketing opportunities to the hosting infrastructure provider industry.
“The current power crunch is a wake-up call for larger
businesses,” says Robyn Bergeron, industry analyst for In-Stat’s e-Business
Computing Infrastructure Service. “Theses customers have the servers, the
personnel, and the applications for e-business – but they don’t have the
resources available to bulletproof their infrastructure against forces beyond
their control, such as the current crisis in California.”
In-Stat notes that service providers should emphasize key
features to targeted customers, such as their ability to manage critical
applications, provide business continuity, and capabilities such as redundancy
and contingency planning.
