Vector Networks Inc. announced the release of its LANutil32
Suite 5.02. LANutil32 5.02 offers several enhancements, including real-time
software distribution, the introduction of DMI technology, support improvements
for SQL Server and Oracle, and new comprehensive node reports.
The 5.02 Client kit now supports DMI as a means to retrieve
certain items of key data from DMI-compliant BIOS implementations such as make,
model, and serial number.
The new Software Changes report summarizes PCs that have
experienced either new applications, deleted applications, or application
version changes, all without disrupting users. The License Groups utility then
compares the inventory data with management’s application deployment policy and
reveals any rogue configurations.
The software distribution agent is capable of running in
real time, without requiring logon, making it possible to run software or data
distribution tasks overnight, network-wide, simultaneously, and invisibly.
