SQL Server Slides Up Winter Corp. Scale

The Winter
Corporation has recognized two companies for their SQL Server 2000
implementations in its Database Scalability Program 2000.
Wintercorp’s Database Scalability Program recognizes
database implementations for scalibity and performance. The company uses
proprietary metrics developed in-house.
Lifeminders Inc.
an online direct marketing operation sends users reminders of personal events
via email. The company uses SQL Server for DBMS, a Dell Computer Corp. server,
and an EMC Corp. storage array. According to Wintercorp, Lifeminders led the
field among NT-based decision support systems.
Inmar
Technology Solutions, Inc. partnered with Microsoft Corp. for its SQL Server
implementation. Inmar provides technology consulting and services to the manufacturing
and transportation industries.
In previous years, the Database Scalability Program was
skewed toward databases on mainframe and Unix platforms.
Microsoft sponsors the Database Scalability Program
2000 along with EMC Corp., Hewlett-Packard Co., IBM Corp., Informix Corp, NCR
Corp, NetGenesis Corp, Oracle Corp, Sun Microsystems, Inc. and Sybase Inc. Christopher McConnell
