Office XP Takes Off

Suite gets more Web-based features, improved collaboration among components.

ENTmag.com reports that Microsoft Corp. released Office XP, a major reworking of the Microsoft software component suite. The new version has been fine-tuned to take advantage of Web-based collaborative features, with improved search and SmartTags, a feature that allows for quick linking of documents and items on the Web. Also launched but not directly related to Office XP:

  • SharePoint Portal Server 2002
  • FrontPage 2002
  • MapPoint 2002
  • Outlook Mobile Manager
  • Publisher 2002
  • Visio 2002
