Altiris Inc. on Wednesday introduced three products suites that extend the infrastructure management capabilities of organizations using Microsoft Corp.'s Systems Management Server.
The suites extend SMS management functionality to two new client types -- mobile computers running Windows 95/98/2000 and non-Windows boxes running Solaris, HP-UX, IRIX or Linux.
Altiris also introduced a Helpdesk for SMS product suite that provides a front-end for helpdesk workers to troubleshoot SMS clients.
"These new product suites allow customers to capitalize on their investment in SMS," said Poul Nielsen, vice president, Product Strategy, Altiris Inc. "They include one of our hallmark technologies which is native SMS integration. This means that SMS administrators have only a single infrastructure to manage."
All three of the suites -- Mobile Client for SMS, Unix Client for SMS and Helpdesk for SMS -- come with Web Admin for SMS, a new Web console that allows administrators to access SMS functionality from a Web browser or Windows CE device.
