No Extension on 70-240 Exam

The origination of a rumor regarding the potential deadline extension of the 70-240 Accelerated exam is unknown, but Microsoft continues to state emphatically that it won't do so.

MCP Magazine in recent weeks has received numerous e-mail queries about the potential extension, and Microsoft says it has also fielded a handful of similar queries but hasn't been able to pinpoint the origination of the rumor.

One source via e-mail believes the rumor might be based on an assumption that MCSE candidates who are attempting to renew their MCT status may be offered an extension to take 70-240. (The deadline for MCTs who want to recertify under the MCT 2002 program have until to achieve their MCSE on Win2K; see "MCSE on Win2K for MCT 2002 Deadline Extended" in News.) MCPmag.com's own search of the MCT Secured Web site shows that no such offer exists.

Exam 70-240, Windows 2000 Accelerated, will be discontinued after Dec. 31, 2001. Only candidates who have taken all NT 4.0 exams are eligible to take the exam using the free voucher that was available until Nov. 1 on the Microsoft MCP secured Web.
