Microsoft Plans Minor Update to Windows CE .NET

Microsoft Corp. will release a minor update to the Windows CE .NET operating system later this year codenamed "Jameson."

Windows CE .NET is Microsoft's real-time, embedded operating system for small-footprint smart devices such as handhelds, smart phones, set-top boxes, retail point-of-sale devices and displays.

The formal launch of Windows CE .NET came earlier this month at the International CES in Las Vegas.

Additions to the Jameson version of Windows CE .NET will include IPv6 support, enhanced device management and support for document viewers for popular file types.
