The Art of Migration
Quick Look: A comprehensive must-have for Exchange admins.
I often tell my clients and students that the only similarity between
Exchange 4.x and Exchange 2000 is that they both send mail. While that
may be hyperbole, it emphasizes the importance of learning as much as
possible about Exchange 2000 before you implement it-or there will be
problems. That's where this book really shines.
The author has done a fantastic job of educating his readers in the art
of migrating to Exchange 2000, but he doesn't stop there. This book goes
on to make an excellent resource for administration after the migration
is complete, as well.
The only flaws in the book are minor; there are a few step-by-step instructions
on how to configure Exchange in the chapter that's supposed to be about
comparing Exchange 5.x and 2000 (not where you would expect this). There
are also some chapters that are misnamed; Chapter 13 for example should
have been called, "Configuring the Exchange 2000 Organization" instead
of, "Managing the Exchange 2000 Organization."
My verdict is, however, if you work with Exchange 2000, you need this
book.
