Briefing: Teamplate

New tool offers rapid deployment of .NET-based process automation solutions.

The folks at Teamplate called me up to chat about their new Teamplate for .NET release. This and other Teamplate products are designed to fill in some of the gaps in Microsoft's product line when it comes to business solutions and workflow. Teamplate is aggressively Microsoft-centric, integrating with Great Plains, BizTalk, Content Management Server, and Visio, among other connections.

The idea of Teamplate is to offer rapid deployment of process automation solutions, putting Microsoft solutions in competition with the likes of Lotus Domino, Oracle, and Vignette in the workflow market. In contrast to the application-to-application focus of BizTalk, Teamplate tries to integrate workflow on a person to person basis. They deliver an entire development IDE featuring Wizards, open VB .NET code, and integration with the Microsoft product line. For example, you can map your business processes in Visio, then drag that in to Teamplate. From there, you can identify the tasks and their linkages, figure out which info neesd to be captured, and build forms. Then you can stick business rules in behind the process.

Teamplate is marketed directly through various of Microsoft's other partners. For more information, visit the company Web site.
