Exam 70-292 Set for Release August 14
Testing centers will begin accepting registrations Wednesday for 70-292: Managing and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Environment for an MCSA Certified on Windows 2000.
Microsoft this Thursday will release Exam 70-292, Managing and Maintaining
a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment for an MCSA Certified on Windows
2000. Candidates will be able to register for the exam via Prometric and Vue
testing centers on Wednesday.
Exam 70-292 is a core credit option for the MCSA on Windows Server 2003 title;
MCSA-Windows 2000 titleholders who pass 70-292 automatically earn the MCSA-Windows
2003 title.
Only MCSA-Windows 2000 and MCSE-Windows 2000 titleholders will be allowed to
take the exam. Unlike "accelerated" or "upgrade" exams
that Microsoft has released in the past, candidates can take this exam more
than once until passed.
According to the exam objective guide, Microsoft recommends the following training
resources for preparing for this exam:
- Course
2209: Updating Systems Administrator Skills from Microsoft Windows 2000
to Windows Server 2003 (instructor-led course that's available at Microsoft
CTECs)
- MCSA/MCSE Self-Paced Training Kit (Exams 70-292 and 70-296): Managing,
Maintaining, Planning, and Implementing a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment
for MCSAs and MCSEs Certified on Microsoft Windows 2000 (self-study guide
available through Microsoft Press)
Course 2209 can be taken at any Microsoft CTEC; the self-paced training kit,
however, will not be published until Sept. 24.
Microsoft expects to release another upgrade exam, 70-296, Planning, Implementing,
and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Environment for an MCSE Certified on Windows
2000, on August 28.
