Centrify to Ship Updated Active Directory Suite
Centrify will begin shipping on Monday version 2.0 of its flagship product DirectControl Suite 2.0 for integrating non-Microsoft systems into Active Directory.
The new version includes more than 50 new, out-of-the-box group policy templates for Unix and Linux systems, even Group Policies for Linux firewall configuration.
“Now, you’ll be able to see Linux, Unix and Mac Group Policies using the same user interface and capabilities that you have in Active Directory,” says Tom Kemp, CEO of Mountain View, Calif.-based Centrify.
Other additions in version 2.0 include support for more Unix and Linux distributions -- HP-UX Trusted Mode, IBM AIX, Debian Linux and SUSE Linux -- as well as support for Apple Macintosh OS X. Version 2.0 also provides better administrative granularity through a concept called “zones,” enabling systems managers to delegate various levels of privileges to administrators.
“[With zones], administrators can [be defined] to only be able to manage users and systems that they’re responsible for,” Kemp adds.
Centrify DirectControl 2.0 will cost $50 per workstation for clients and starts at $300 per server.
