Microsoft this week posted Service Pack 2 for Office 2003 to its Download Center and began distributing the service pack through its sprawling update infrastructure.
The service pack is a 50-MB to 104-MB download depending on the number of Office programs a client system is running and needs to have updated.
Microsoft describes Office 2003 SP2 as a standard service pack -- filled primarily with security, stability and performance improvements. As is common for a Microsoft service pack, SP2 bundles all the improvements in SP1 and includes several interim updates.
One new item in Office 2003 SP2 is an Outlook 2003 Phishing Protection feature that will become part of the Outlook Junk E-mail Filter. Office 2003 SP2 and the latest Outlook 2003 Junk E-mail Filter Update are required for the Phishing Protection feature to run.
Office 2003 SP2 is available for download here.
