ScriptLogic Updates Desktop Management Tool
ScriptLogic Corp. is shipping version 7.0 of its Desktop Authority system management package, adding desktop hardware and software inventory, role-based administration and power management capabilities.
The new release also adds administrative auditing, real-time spyware detection and removal, patch management for third-party products, and new patch, spyware and user activity reporting, according to company statements.
Inventory management features include comprehensive reporting capabilities that detail machine type, operating system, installed applications as well as other characteristics across an enterprise and can be used to, for instance, check whether users’ desktops have sufficient hardware resources for planned software deployments.
With the new role-based administration functions, the package can be configured so that administrators at different locations can only make changes within their own local environments. Power management features let administrators establish power saving settings for both desktops and laptops.
Desktop Authority 7.0 is priced on a per-seat basis, starting at $38 per seat for 10 to 499 seats.
