Update Lets Users Save Data with PDF Forms

Users of Universe Software’s pdf-Formserver package can now save .PDF forms together with user data.

Version 3.6 of pdf-Formserver lets users of Adobe Reader save all the data, including formatting, entered into form fields as a .PDF, according to a statement by the Neuss, Germany-based publisher.

“This means that even complex data entries can be loaded at any time, and processed or altered without changing the actual structure of the .PDF [while] the .PDF itself remains protected from change,” the company’s statement said. Previously, .PDF form users could only view and print their forms after filling them out in Adobe Reader.

The software ships in three editions: a standalone version, a server version for use on an intranet, and a Web version for unlimited use. The standalone version costs 33 euros (approximately $40). Universe’s pdf-Formserver runs on all versions of Windows, from Windows 95 and later, as well as Mac OS X.
