Alero 2006 Release 2 Ships
Alero Technology announced this week it is shipping Release 2 of its Alero
2006 enterprise information management package.
The new release features an entirely service-oriented architecture (SOA), according
to statements by San Diego, Calif.-based Alero. It also provides enhanced support
for complex environments, including fault tolerance, workload balancing, clustering,
farming, and grid computing.
Additionally, R2 provides complete system virtualization for systems, applications
and data. Other additions include new Web-based management tools for administration
and operations tasks, which enable users to manage complex solutions comprised
of multiple systems as if they were a single system. Virtualization of management
is designed to simplify the initial and ongoing configuration, maintenance,
monitoring, supporting and troubleshooting of the solution.
"Alero 2006 provides products and solutions for enterprise information
management, including and combining enterprise content integration, enterprise
information integration, enterprise content management (ECM) and business process
management (BPM) capabilities in a single, consistent solution," the company's
statement said.
For a company with 100 concurrent users, with the ECM and BPM modules, it would
cost a base charge of $80,000 (or $800 per concurrent user), a spokesperson
said in an e-mail.
