Third Parties Demo Visual Studio 2005 Tools

Two third-party firms showcased new development tools designed to work with Microsoft's Visual Studio 2005 Team System at the company's annual TechEd conference being held this week in Boston.

AVIcode announced its TFS Incident Management Connector, which helps Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 communicate with Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server.

The package takes advantage of Microsoft's Dynamic Systems Initiative (DSI) by integrating Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 alerts as Team Foundation Server work items, and provides automated bi-directional communication between operations and development teams.

It's also designed to be used in conjunction with AVIcode's .NET Management Pack, to help more effectively communicate and resolve application problems such as coding errors, performance bottlenecks, and connectivity and security issues, the company said in a statement.

Additionally, Personify Design announced it is shipping its new Team Solutions suite of collaboration tools. Team Solutions is designed to improve visibility and communication among all members of a software development team, according to company statements.

Based on the Microsoft Office 2003 System and integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System, Personify Design Team Solutions is intended to combine a familiar working environment with tools that help members of an organization write project specifications and manage deliverables and project status.

"By incorporating its functionality into Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 (Personify Design TeamLook) and Microsoft Office Word 2003 (Personify Design TeamSpec), Personify Design brings the predictability and visibility benefits of Visual Studio 2005 Team System to technical and non-technical members of a development team alike," the company's statement said.
