Desktop Management Suite Adds Vista, VM Support
ScriptLogic Corp. has updated its Desktop Authority suite with support for Windows Vista and virtual desktops.
Desktop Authority 7.6, which centralizes the management of Windows desktop setting and configurations, can now recognize and manage settings for Vista natively. Admins can now apply settings, network connections and preferences from older machines to new Vista machines during a migration.
A new addition is the ability of Desktop Authority 7.6 to extend those management capabilities to setting and policies on virtual machines, particularly those on VMWare virtual machines.
ScriptLogic's software packaging tool, Desktop Authority MSI Studio 3.6 also adds supports for some new Vista installer features, like the User Account Control and Restart Manager, that developers can tap while creating and customizing MSI deployment packages targeted for rollout onto Vista machines.
Desktop Authority starts at $38 per seat (includes one year of support). Desktop Authority 3.6 MSI Studio is $399 and $799 for the Pro version. Volume discounts are available.
