Find Your Way Through Active Directory
Entevo DirectManager and DirectMigrate
2000 take migration to the next level. Not only can
you create Win2K-like Organizational Units (OU), but
you can also view both your existing network and the
Active Directory that you’ll be migrating to in
a single console.
One feature of the Suite is its
ability to support and implement any type of network
scenario. You can choose to migrate from one NT domain
to another NT domain, from NT to Win2K, and from one
Win2K domain to another.
Entevo’s approach is to create
a “model.” Simply put, this model is an after-migration
snapshot of what your network will look like. For example,
if you have an NT domain that you’re migrating
to Win2K, you’ll see the NT domain structure as
it’s configured now (the before shot) and the Win2K
Active Directory structure that it will become (the
after). Largely because of this feature, you can perform
trial runs on the migrations until you run one that’s
error-free, before ever migrating a single object (see
Figure 3).

Suite allows the administrator to test and correct
the migration before actually implementing it. |
Because you’re working on this
virtual model, when you decide to complete the migration,
you simply take a single step from your model to your
Active Directory infrastructure while tracking all changes.
If you decide to reverse the migration due to unforeseen
circumstances, you can simply rollback or undo the migration.
With its ability to manage both Windows
NT and Win2K networks during the migration process and
with the added option of Exchange Server management,
the enterprise suite of products is one great combination.
