This book is a concise yet comprehensive guide to the Windows 2000 registry.
It provides a high-level coverage of the OS and registry administration
tools, including registry hives, data types, backup, and restoration.
The book also explains the configuration of critical Windows components
via direct registry manipulation, including hardware, networking, RAS,
security, IIS, COM+, SQL, Transaction Server, and IE.

Pros: Concise yet comprehensive guide
to the Win2K registry.
Cons: Every set of configuration instructions wastes half
a page telling you how to launch regedt32.
Verdict: An incredible resource that belongs on the
desk of every experienced system administrator.

The book is written for experienced Windows System Administrators and
can be challenging for newbies. Despite this, every set of configuration
instructions throughout the book starts with a half-page explanation of
how to launch the registry editor. This wastes a lot of space, especially
given that registry editing tools are detailed in a separate chapter.
Overall, this book is an incredible resource that belongs on a desk of
every experienced system administrator. Remember, many configuration settings
editable in the registry are not available via any other GUI configuration
interface; you need a reference like this to find them!
