Beta Exam Update: 70-300, Analyzing Requirements in November

Microsoft sends out invitations to candidates for final MCSD.NET core requirement exam.

Microsoft sent out beta invitations to MCSD.NET candidates earlier this week for exam 70-300, Analyzing Requirements and Defining .NET Solution Architectures. The exam, which is required to complete the MCSD.NET certification, is expected to be beta tested Nov. 4 through 8; candidates will be able to register to take the beta starting Oct. 21. During the beta period, the exam will be numbered 71-300.

Six MCSD.NET core exams have been released in the last nine months. Exam 70-300 is the seventh and last in the list of core exams necessary for completion of the MCSD.NET title. Microsoft was expected to release the live version of this exam in February 2003 (according to the side note in this MCAD/MCSD comparison chart); the unexpected beta announcement means that development of this exam is possibly ahead of schedule. (As with any exam in development, Microsoft will not confirm or deny any development details or release dates.)

Microsoft offers beta exams to qualified candidates by invitation-only, typically chosen from those who have taken an exam in the past and based on a candidate's expertise, as well as those who subscribe to Microsoft's MCP Flash newsletter.
