Rational Software today released its Rational Suite 2000, a collection of 12 individual products grouped in six different suites. The suites are designed to complement the skills of each member of a Web application development team.
The first suite provides requirements framework for business-to-business e-business systems, providing pre-configured, packaged requirements, models, and other analysis artifacts. The second suite provides a unified modeling language (UML) framework for developers building Windows DNA applications, giving prepackaged Windows DNA design and code templates with round-trip engineering support. The third suite includes a Web modeling solution that reverse-engineers dynamic Web sites consisting of both HTML and Active Server Pages and converts them to visual models. The fourth suite provides round-trip engineering between visual models and XML/document type definitions (DTDs), allowing developers to convert documents into visual models and DTDs into graphical models. The fifth suite provides round-trip engineering between visual models and Enterprise JavaBeans (EJBs) using unified modeling language (UML). The sixth suite provides a UML-based solution for data modeling.
