Microsoft Releases Network Load Balancing Hotfix

Microsoft has released a Network Load Balancing hotfix for
Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2000 SP1 Server, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, and
Microsoft Application Center 2000.
The hotfix package remedies two problems. First, the Network
Load Balancing Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) provider leaks a
significant amount of memory in the WinMgmt process, resulting in a loss of 50
MB of memory in approximately 17 hours. Second, modifying a host’s Load weight
setting in the configuration for Network Load Balancing ends all existing
client connections to that host through the virtual IP address.
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft. It provides
a set of Network Load Balancing .DLL files that contain hotfixes published
before February 1. However, Microsoft recommends that unless systems are
severely affected by the problems, administrators should wait for the next
Windows 2000 service pack.
