UltraBac Software is shipping version 6.2 of its Backup and Disaster Recovery software for Windows NT/2000 servers and workstations.
The most important new feature in version 6.2 is Network Disaster Recovery, which allows a user to insert a floppy disk and boot a machine to restore an image partition that was previously backed up over the network.
A switch to image-based recovery technology speeds backups in the latest version.
Also new in 6.2 is Command Line Restore for Express Index, allowing administrators to initiate a restore from a DOS prompt that uses UltraBac's proprietary file indexing technology for specifying the location of individual files on DLT and QIC tapes.
