Compaq Computer Corp. and Hewlett-Packard Co. joined Microsoft's launch of Mobile Information Server 2002 on Wednesday with service and package offerings, including pilot program package deals.
"They've really stepped up and made it easier for an IT manager to roll out a Mobile Information Server solution," says Chuck Sabin, product manager for Mobile Information Server at Microsoft.
Compaq announced three offerings. One is a packaged solution, another involves installation and startup services from Compaq Global Services and the third is called Compaq Managed Mobility solutions for MIS (Mobile Information Server).
HP is offering a pilot program called HP Express Services for MIS. The package sets up a team of up to 50 mobile professionals in a company for a 60-day pilot program using Mobile Information Server.
"HP Express Services for MIS allow our customers to quickly and economically evaluate the benefits of an MIS solution, including ROI," David Stubbs, general manager of Microsoft Services Operation at HP, said in a statement.
