Last Chance: MCP Exams Retiring in June
Microsoft to retire 11 exams at the end of the month.
As has been expected since last June, 2003, Microsoft will retire 11 exams at the end of this month; retirements mainly affect those who hold the MCSD and MCDBA on SQL 7 titles. Microsoft's policy since October 2001 has been that certifications do not retire, so those holding any certification, that uses any of the retired exams toward fulfillment do not have to recertify and can continue to use their certifications as evidence of expertise.
As of this writing, availability of these exams at some testing centers may already be limited.
Microsoft typically makes exam retirement announcements on its site at http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/mcpexams/status/retired.asp in June, with the retirements taking place a year later (to read about last year's announcement, go to http://mcpmag.com/news/article.asp?EditorialsID=588). So far, Microsoft has made no indication of exam retirements for June 2005.
