Integrated with version 5.0 of the Java-based access infrastructure solution Konekt, from desktopsites Inc., Konekt Launcher is a session-based, server-driven computing toolbar that integrates into an end user’s desktop. It provides access to remote enterprise applications, data and hosted services but with a small footprint on desktop space and system resources. http://www.desktopsites.com

RemotePC is giving its users 5GB of online storage for free at IBackup. Both RemotePC and the online storage use 128-bit SSL encryption. http://www.ibackup.com/remote_access_pc/

Surf, chat and e-mail securely with Tunneler 2.1 from Metropipe. The graphical interface software creates an encrypted channel, or “tunnel,” between the end user’s computer and Metropipe’s worldwide proxy servers to provide a safe, anonymous access point to the Internet. Also available is Privacy Toolbar, a free plug-in for Mozilla Firefox, features privacy and security tools that enable users to disable cookies, Javascript, caching, images and referrers. Another remote access tool comes from Anfibia Software. Desktop Orbiter 4.0 enables users to protect and administer multiple remote computers, and provides reporting and exporting tools, detailed usage logs and new security functionalities, including 256-bit AES encrypted communication. Digital Dynamics Software, Inc. released two practical applications designed to work with Cisco IP telephony systems. Wake-up/Reminder Call enables users to set up a wake-up or reminder call to be made to an IP telephone or any external line, such as a mobile phone. The Find-Me application routes incoming calls to alternate phone numbers if the Find-Me user isn’t available at the primary number. http://www.digdyn.com

Trakion announced the debut of its low-cost, worldwide computer tracking service and associated Trakion Tracking Software 1.0 for Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems for locating lost or stolen computers. Monthly fee for the service is $3. http://www.trackion.com
