Domain Controllers (Exam 70-642)

When configuring a RODC running Windows 2008 for DNS client updates what is required? (Choose two)

  1. The DNS zone must be set to allow both secure and non-secure updates.
  2. There is no option to configure a RODC for DNS client updates.
  3. Configuration must take place at a writable DNS server.
  4. The RODC must be promoted to a writable DNS server.

B and C are correct since no configuration DNS or otherwise can be performed at a read-only domain controller.

Answer B may be the choice made at a writable DNS server. Answer D is incorrect as there is no promotion path for RODCs.

Windows Server 2008 DNS servers running on RODCs replicate a full copy of all application directory partitions that DNS uses, including domain and forest.
