New Microsoft Small Business Server for Storage: Breckenridge
A new Windows storage server option for small businesses appears to coming down the pipeline: Breckenridge.
ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley broke the news in a blog post today, citing an online Microsoft privacy statement for confirming the existence of the code-named Breckenridge server.
The use of the name "Breckenridge" lines up with other code names based on Colorado cities that Microsoft has been using for its upcoming versions of Windows Small Business Server (SBS)/Home Server that will debut later this year/early next: Vail and Aurora.
According to Foley, Breckenridge will be a version of the upcoming Vail SBS, but it "will be optimized for storage." No other details are known at this time.
Betas of Vail and Aurora debuted in August.
