Pop Quiz: Windows Server 2012 R2 IPAM Architectures
Applies to the "Configure Network Services" objective of Exam 70-412.
Q: A company's network administration team is researching the new IPAM (IP Address Management) architecture deployments available with Windows Server 2012.
Which of the following are IPAM architecture deployment methods available? (Choose three.)
- Distributed
- Centralized
- Hybrid
- Cloud
Answers are A, B, and C. When architecting IPAM server deployment; a distributed method uses a server in every site in the enterprise, a centralized method uses one server in the enterprise, and a hybrid method uses a central IPAM server with dedicated servers at each site.
Quick Tip: There is no communication between IPAM servers in the enterprise. If multiple IPAM servers are deployed, the scope of discovery can be customized for each IPAM server, or filter managed servers. A single IPAM server might manage a specific domain or location, perhaps with a second IPAM server configured as a backup.
