MCDBA

Premier title for SQL Server database administrators.

Microsoft Certified Database Administrator is a premier certification for those who want to prove expertise in implementing and administering Microsoft SQL Server. More specifically: developing physical database designs and logical data models; creating physical databases; creating data services by using Transact-SQL; managing and maintaining databases; configuring and managing security; monitoring and optimizing databases; and installing and configuring SQL Server.

IT professionals who hold titles such as database administrator, database analyst, or database developer are candidates for the MCDBA. Microsoft recommends at least one year of hands-on experience with SQL Server for those contemplating taking exams for the MCDBA.

The certification requires you to pass three core exams and one elective, as shown in the following table:

Note: If you had the opportunity to take and pass Exam 70-240, the Accelerated Exam for Windows 2000, you need only take one more Core: Admin (70-028 or 70-228) and one more Core: Design (70-029 or 70-229) to fulfill the MCDBA requirements. Tests are delivered through Prometric and VUE are the exclusive test providers for these and all Microsoft exams.
